Ways to boost your gratitude and feel happier in life

We may have everything in life: education, money, a prominent position in society but lack the essential – happiness. Researchers estimate that much of happiness is under an individual’s personal control. So, it is up to us! And for us to be able to start feeling happier we need to rearrange the order of our thoughts and readjust our inner self.

The following few recommendations will help you build gratitude towards life and feel happier than you do now:

  1.    Learn to live in the moment  Life is an incredible adventure filled with enriching experiences and endless possibilities. We take our daily routines for granted: the ability of walking, seeing, driving to work. Remember, the ability to go through these routines is a blessing, a gift, let’s not take it for granted, instead, be thankful.
  2.     Appreciate what you have right now – Human nature is to want what we don’t have and to dwell on the negatives instead of celebrating what we do have and focusing on the bright side. The secret of happiness lies in counting your blessings, your achievements, your success. Stop worrying about the things you don’t have or don’t own. Be happy with what you have.
  3.     Immerse yourself in inspirational thoughts, avoid negative thoughts and fears – You have the power to control what you think! If you find yourself thinking negatively, stop it immediately. If you are comparing yourself to other people, stop it immediately. Comparing yourself to other people won’t make you feel good about yourself. The comparison will only make you feel inferior to others. Don’t do it. You are an individual, a unique human being. There is no one quite like you in the whole universe.
  4.     Acknowledge the past and move on – You shouldn’t ignore the past, naturally. That’s impossible. You should be aware of your past mistakes, heartbreaks, and failures.  Acknowledge the fact that they did happen in the past, consider them as lessons learned and just try not to repeat them in the present.

And most importantly, say thank you! Thank you to everything and everyone in your life. The nature that surrounds you, people who make your life exciting, your family, your friends, your colleagues, and acquaintances, and don’t forget yourself, give thanks to your body, your mind and your spirit. You are fantastic, and so is life!
